Weekly update
For the first time since the World Cup final we don’t have matches during the midweek. The Brasileirão paused this week so Santos and Vitória, and Internacional and São Paulo could play the Copa do Brasil final and the Libertadores semi-final, respectively. What good could come from a whole week without a win to celebrate or a loss to discuss? Also, I don’t know if you guys know this but this weekend we’re facing Vasco - every time we play against them, during the week before the game, lots of bad things happen due to tension within the club.

Where am I?
So I've been away for a LONG time. A combination of the World Cup, life, and some confusion with my being able to access this blog on my new computer. Here I am though, I'm back.
A brief recap of what happened since the last blog (when we won the Paulista)

Weekend update
For now, enough of transfer talks and brutally murdered girlfriends. Let’s speak of our condition in the Brasileirão. Before the World Cup break we played seven games; losing the last one to Goiás inside Maracanã and going down some positions to 9th, or somewhere close to that. Normally this would have lead us to another crisis. But it didn’t. The World Cup break was long enough that the board had time to put the team on the right course. The media also had time to forget about most of the bad things that happened last month - of course, some are unforgettable.

Heads up
The bad thing about the World Cup is that there’s not much national football going on. The Brasileirão stops and the clubs start signing new players, though most of them can’t even play right now, not being eligible until the August transfer window. Flamengo, as well as many other teams, have brought in new faces to replace key players that have left the team. We now have a vastly different squad.

Lets get back to what really matters

With the end of that unimportant summer championship, full of crappy players playing somewhere in Africa, we’re back to something a lot more substantial -- the Brasileirão. And even more important than the return of the Brasileirão, we have the return of Flamengo. Not that Flamengo have been absent from the papers -- especially the crime reports -- but the lack of football and, consequently, the lack of actual sporting news, gives room to things that we shouldn’t give a crap about. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t worry. It will all be explained just not right now. I’m looking for a little help from a friend who is a law student and also an English teacher so he can explain it better, with the proper terminology.
But let’s get back to football.

Breaking news during the World Cup break
I'm not a big fan of reporting on rumors, but in talking with one of my lovely readers I became aware that news of any kind is the reason you all visit. So I've decided that writing about them, being cautious not to give false hopes or create false rumors, would be the best thing -- as you'll be aware of what's going on and not only about what has already occurred.
