I think it’s a great opportunity for the younger or more unknown players to step up and make an impression. But it’s up to Dunga to take away some of the pressure and expectations from the squad. Worked well elsewhere.

I don’t actually think there is any flavor in the Brasilian team with the great names we used to hear. lots of fans might really want to watch Brasil playing without Ronaldo, Ronaldino, Kaka and Dida. if he couldn’t win the friendly game against Turkey … can someone tell me who the hell would like to watch Brasil loosing in Copa America 2007?

i certaintly think Brazil can win with this squad.. decent defense with Alex, Juan & Naldo. gotta love Marcelo too.. Diego will show his greatness along with Anderson.. I like Elano and Gilberto Silva.. Robinho & Vagner Love NEED to step it up

Filipoa lovers:
I think Dunga needs to call up Daniel Carvalho who shined in the 2002 U-21 World cup. He has been playing for a russian team for 4 years and is linked with inter milan next season. He is still young and now, NOT LATER, is the time to settle him into the national squad. Just watch how Messi developed for Argentina.

I don’t see Amauri in the national team in the short term. But also he is injured, and maybe Dunga has just changed his plans. After Copa America, the national team will start its preparation for the olympics and we should see more of a younger squad.
But hey, if Dunga called that Afonso, I dont see why he would not call Amauri.

What are the chances of Amauri getting a call up? I know he’s close to gaining an Italian passport and it’s widely assumed Donadoni will extend an invite as soon as he does. His form was ridiculous to start the year and a lot of people have been comparing him to that Drogba character. Any chance Dunga sneaks in a cap just to keep his options open before the Azzurri come calling?

That’s what I don’t get is why Cris has a bad relationship with Brazil. He’s been stellar for Lyon in Europe. And even if he is hated by the media, I thought Dunga’s plan was choosing the best players regardless of their “star” status. I assumed that meant both fame and infamy.

It seems silly that Dunga is overlooking a defender with so much experience and skill, who has obviously learned a lot and matured in the past four years in France, to call up virgins from Fenerbahce and Fluminense.

Cris is far from being loved in Brazil by the press and the fans. I’m glad he is not there.
but this squad brings me fears. huge amounts of players of questionable background and quality.
