

Generic Versions of Santos and São Paulo Bring Rivalry to the Second Division in the Jungle

Amapa, in perspective.
Fans and journalists expected 2007 to be another year which Santos and São Paulo would play all finals and win all titles available. With half of the season gone this seems not to be the case. However, there is one place where this holds to be true. In the second division of Amapá’s state league, Santos and São Paulo were the two teams qualified for the first division. Santos ended with the first spot on the table whereas São Paulo the second. Too bad, these are not the traditional clubs from São Paulo state, but clubs that got, we might say, some inspiration from them.
The two divisions of Amapá’s state league are amazing. All the matches of all the rounds are played at the same stadium, one after the other. And every match is full of bizarre plays. There are even players who manage to get a header facing their bellies up, in a grotesque inversion of a typical header.
