A victory on Sunday for Brazilian football, and a loss this Monday.

Ricardo Teixeira has been reelected for another 7 years term (!) ahead of CBF. Out of the 47 votes possible (27 state federations plus de 20 clubs in first division), he got 43. Corinthians, involved in corruption scandals, had one abstention. The presidents of Vasco, Botafogo and Atlético-MG were late and could not vote.

Even old traditional clubs against Teixeira, like São Paulo, voted for him. The club from the paulista capital plans to include the Morumbi stadium in the 2014 World Cup.

He commented on Copa América, “This one had a special taste. We did not overcome only Argentina, but also the critics who placed the Brazilian squad in an inferior position to others.”

Teixeira will stay in power until 2015, completing 26 years ahead of the institution. The balance of CBF with Teixeira in power includes 2 World Cups, 4 Copa Américas, 2 Confederation Cups and 3 Congressional Investigations.
