10 Things about the 10th Round of the Brasileirão
By: Bruno Romani | July 8th, 20071 – Bad scheduling. Before the beginning of Copa America, CBF and TV Globo rescheduled all the matches to Saturday so that the national team could be watched this Sunday. Guess what? Dunga’s team ended in second in the group, forcing both clubs and the national team to play on the same day. No football this Sunday.
2- São Paulo keeps missing chances. Flamengo still doesn’t attack nor defend. Result? 0-0
3- Palmeiras is already in 4th. Naútico keeps its journey back to second division, and lost at home against the green team.
4- Corinthians is still playing unconvincing football at home. Fluminense got its one point in the 1-1 draw.
5- Santos played its best match in the league in the 4-1 victory over Cruzeiro.
6 – Botafogo remains unbeatable. The victim this time was Atlético-PR, 2-0.
7 – An odd match took place on Friday night. The 1-0 victory of América-RN against Paraná in Curitiba was even stranger.
8 – Goiás came back against Sport after a 2-0 lead by the visitors. The green team is in second.
9- Internacional 2 x 1 Figueirense. Juventude 2 x 0 Vasco. 2 matches of 4 mediocre sides.
10 – Grêmio keeps growing in the competition. They were not good visitors against Atlético-MG.

Totally agree with Bruno’s critique — the scheduling was awful! And, concerning the local Rio matches, they knew the PanAm Games were coming for a loooong time, and took virtually no measures to change the schedule in advance — what a fiasco.
Incidentally, with Brasil-Uruguay coming up on Tuesday night, my betting guys have Brasil a one goal favorite, and Uruguay at +500 in Money Line betting.
Hey, I love Brazil (and am still in Rio ’til I fly home tomorrow), BUT that’s an overlay. For the money, and because Dunga is such a dunderhead, I’d have to go with Uruguay, financially…..
But I have not placed a bet — so I’ll go for the yellow and green.Posted from
