Corinthians Boots MSI
By: Bruno Romani | July 25th, 2007The partnership between Corinthians and MSI is over. The club’s council voted last night for the end of the agreement, besides scheduling a new meeting in which it will be discussed the impeachment of President Alberto Dualib.
After voting for the end of the partnership that started in 2004 and was going to end in 2014, the council tried to schedule a date to vote for the departure of Dualib, but the president of council Carlos Senger, allied of Dualib, closed the session. Confusion was created and Dualib left from a side door. Senger wasn’t that lucky, and was not allowed to leave the club by fans who waited for him outside. He had no option but stepping back in and arranging the date for the impeachment. August 7th will be this date.
MSI did not comment on the council’s decision, but it is very likely to seek the U$25 million fee of the contract break. The club, on the other hand, claims that MSI breached the contract in many occasions and it owes U$100 millions to the club. However, according Folha de S. Paulo, the 2006 club’s financial statement shows that MSI owes “only” U$ 17, 9 millions.
MSI claims it attended all the items of the contract, despite the fact that since June of 2006 Corinthians has not received money from the company. Last week, the Brazilian justice blocked the bank accounts of MSI, saying that the money is a result of a money laundry operation headed by the Russian Boris Berezovski.

I’m really curious how this whole MSI mess with Tevez, Corinthians etc. will play out in the end. It’s good news that Corinthians tries to get rid of MSI.
