There is a reason a Fla-Flu is a mythical derby. There is magic on the air when both clubs collide. Last night, at Maracanã the match happened the way it always should: as the only one of the day. So that everybody pays attention to it.
50 thousand people showed up to watch two sides far their from glorious days. After winning Copa do Brasil, Fluminene has been very lazy about its season. And Flamengo is fighting relegation. Still the stadium was beautiful. Maybe half of them knew what was coming.
With Flamengo’s 10, jersey that once belonged to Zico, a certain Maxi Biancucchi was playing his first match as starter. Until yesterday he was just another Argentinean player trying his luck in Brazilian football. He was just the unknown cousin of Lionel Messi, the star from Barcelona. And few chances in the first-half for both sides gave Maxi and the other 21 players the chance to ad thrill to the sonic atmosphere in the stadium.
But in the 41st mark, Juan carried the ball, and gave a precise pass to the sudden stardom of unknown Maxi. He received the ball, and scored with an elegant touch. That was it. A lonely goal that will speak louder than if another 5 goals were scored. Messi will hear about this one.
As a good coadjuvant, Juan left the play after helping the protagonist. He was sent-off with 14 minutes into the second-half. Maxi also should thanks goal-keeper Bruno who helped him to let his goal untouched. In the second-half, Bruno had a great performance. With 30 minutes, Roger was sent-off.
Short of 2 players, Flamengo made it heroic. Fluminense could not penetrate the rival’s defense. The victory did not remove Flamengo from the relegation zone, but one thing happened last night: hope finally was found for Flamengo.

Fluminense is much better than Flamengo, and won the next game, 2×0. They are rivals, but Fluminense always beats Flamengo when they face each other in important matches.
