Libertadores: Inter Saves its Ass From Early Elimination
By: Bruno Romani | April 11th, 2007Tuesday two Brazilian clubs were in action for the Copa Libertadores.
Inter-RS went to Ecuador to play against Emelec to avoid an early elimination from the tournament. The current champions had no option other than winning the match, otherwise the dream of a second title would have been shattered. This time the Colorado did it right. Iarley and Alexandre Pato, the young talent, scored granting a 2-1 victory to the Brazilian squad. Inter still appears on the third spot of its groups, but the team depends only on its own results to advance to the round of 16.
Paraná, coached by ex-goalkeeper Zetti, went to Potosí, Bolivia and lost to the home team by the score of 3-1. The main obstacle for the Brazilians was the 4 thousand meters above sea level they had to face. Paraná is just the second Brazilian club to ever play in this altitude (Flamengo was the first one). Even losing, the club has great chances of advancing to the next round.
