Nothing New in the State Leagues - Videos and Results
By: Bruno Romani | April 8th, 2007Nothing new in the front, seu dotô.
As state championships come closer to the end, very few changes happened over the weekend and a couple of decisive games have been defined in the most important state championships.
In the Paulista championship, Santos, São Paulo and São Caetano defined their spots on the table with one round of anticipation. São Paulo and São Caetano will play one semi-final while Santos waits for Palmeiras, Bragantino or Paulista. Bragantino has the advantage over the other two clubs. Corinthians finally won on the weekend against América, but it has been eliminated weeks ago.
In Rio, Vasco depended on the victory of Madureira against Friburguense to qualify to the semi-finals of Taça Rio against Botafogo. The other semi-final will feature two small clubs, Cabofriense x Volta Redonda. The winner of Taça Rio will play the final of the Carioca championship against Flamengo. Fluminense, the club that spent the most this year in Rio, has no chances of winning the tournament.
In the Campeonato Gaúcho, Grêmio will play the semifinals against Caxias, and Veranópolis will face the other club from Caxias do Sul, Juventude. Internacional, the world champs, is out.
In Minas Gerais, Cruzeiro will face Tupi in the semifinals, and its biggest rival, Atlético, will repeat this Sunday’s game against Democrata de Governador Valadares. Today, Democrata had a 2-0 victory.
