São Paulo humiliated; São Caetano is in the final!
By: Bruno Romani | April 21st, 2007
São Paulo did not justify its favoritism against São Caetano tonight at the Morumbi. São Caetano visited the tricolor and showed that last year’s relegation in the Campeonato Brasileiro was an accident, winning the game by 4-1.
São Paulo started the game better, taking all the action and having more ball possession. Ilsinho scored a beautiful goal from outside the box, but that was it. São Paulo had a mental collapse, and São Caetano took the chance to humiliate the bigger side, coming back in the beginning of the second half. By the 25th mark into the second half, São Caetano had already the advantage of 4-1. Luiz Henrique (37’), Thiago (53’), Glaydson (54’) and Douglas (70’) scored.
São Paulo played for a simple draw, but the Azulão confirmed its status of big obstacle for traditional sides, and advanced to the finals. Now the club waits for either Santos or Bragantino while São Paulo will focus on the Copa Libertadores.
