Lesson of the Weekend: Politicians Should not Attend Stadiums

By: Bruno Romani | October 6th, 2008

Politicians should not attend football matches. But in Brazil, during elections time, it is the favorite place for these people. In the picture below, the bald guy screaming is Sao Paulo governor Jose Serra. On Saturday, he went to see his club, Palmeiras, and took the time to campaign for his party mate running in the municipal elections of the city of Sao Paulo. Serra, who is usually respected as a politician even by his adversaries, got in an argument with fans of his own club. That teaches a lesson: politicians should not be in soccer stadiums.

ps: In case you’re wondering. Serra was the Brazilian health minister who who fought big pharmaceutical corporations to get cheaper HIV drugs to the Brazilian public health care system.
