The online version of the newspaper  Folha de S. Paulo reports this Sunday that a player from one of the big 3 clubs from the city of Sao Paulo wants to come out of the closet on a famous TV show. The gay player is negotiating an exclusive interview to “Fantastico,” a popular journalistic show from TV Globo broadcast every Sunday night.

According to the report, the officials of the club and the agent of the player are against it. They believe this may have a negative impact on his career.

Does it really matter, really?!? Or is this yet another in the seemingly endless series of “political” or “P-C” statements? Oh, incidentally, at least two of my finest employees were gay, so I certainly have no ax to grind….

    frost,
we know in reality it doesn’t, but in the macho world of brazilian soccer, it will matter.

and in general, i’ve never heard of anyone who did that in football. so i think this makes a good headline.
