Brazil Announces the Olympic Squad
By: Bruno Romani | July 7th, 2008Dunga has just annonced the 18 players who will fight for the only title we don’t have. Counting very little with the collaboration of European clubs, the 3 players over 23 are: Ronaldinho, Robinho and defender Thiago Silva. As usual, very few players who play in Brazil. Watch out because this tournament smells like the last one of the Dunga era.
They are:
GOALKEEPERS:
Diego Alves (Almería)
Renan (Internacional)
SIDEBACKS:
Rafinha (Schalke)
Ilsinho (Shakhtar Donetsk)
Marcelo (Real Madrid)
DEFENDERS:
Breno (Bayern de Munique)
Alex Silva (São Paulo)
Thiago Silva (Fluminense)
MIDFIELDERS:
Anderson (Manchester United)
Lucas (Liverpool)
Ronaldinho Gaúcho (Barcelona)
Diego (Werder Bremen)
Hernanes (São Paulo)
Thiago Neves (Fluminense)
FORWARDS:
Alexandre Pato (Milan)
Jô (Manchester City)
Rafael Sobis (Bétis)
Robinho (Real Madrid)

only the gold medal will save Dunga’s life. With Ronaldinho and Robinho in the team the China’s Night Clubs definitely are welcoming them.

Baby, this is not the lineup. Hernanes probably is going to be in the main team, so is Thiago Neves.

Really looking forward to seeing how Hernanes & Thiago Neves perform on the big stage: from the clips I’ve seen (and, of course, one should never pay attention to them!)they look far more ‘Brazilian’ than the turgid Gilberto-esque midfielders Dunga seems to have favoured so far…and what chance Anderson coming of age in the tournament?

…oh, and can someone please explain why Rafael Sobis is in the squad? Surely there is a more talented forward than this mediocre player somewhere in Brazil? Diogo? Guilherme?
