Chile, a friendly nation!

By: Bruno Romani | July 7th, 2007

Easy there. There’s no reason to be overly optimistic. The final score of 6-1 is to be respected, but Chile wasn’t a real adversary. After the drinking episode happened last Friday at their hotel, the Chileans seemed to have a bad hang over.

Brazil repeated the same line-up of the match against Ecuador, with 3 defensive midfielders. The strategy usually relies on the two backs, but today Chile had such a weakened midfield that Júlio Baptista and Josué or Mineiro controlled the match. Josué and Mineiro brought back the efficiency of the duo that took São Paulo to the top of the world in 2005. When one goes to the attack, to help the forwards, the other stays, filling the spaces and helping the defense. Mineiro went to the attack more in the first-half and Josué in the second. At the end, Josué scored his first goal with the Brazilian squad, as the prize for his good football.

The speed with which the first two goals happened, by Juan and Júlio Baptista, turned the match into a practice with a ref. Chilean players stopped running, and Brazil dominated the field without much effort. And we all know: Robinho + space = goals. He scored twice and is the top-scorer in the tournament. The match was so easy that even Vagner Love scored. Only Afonso wasn’t able to visit the net. This is the proof how bad the Chilean side is.

Chile is a friendly nation: The last 4 matches Brazil played against it, Brazil scored 18 goals. Can we play against them in the semifinals? If not, don’t be too excited.

Yes, despite the score it was boring to watch. The Chileans didn’t put much of a fight.

With this kind of performance i wonder how Brazil going to face their not so freindly nation like Argentina. Doni is the worst goalkeeper i’ve even seen in my life. Nothing to be proud of the Chile game. Wake up! Dunga! Bring back the beautiful game spirit.
