After Bizarre Injury, Midfielder Scores Again
By: Bruno Romani | May 14th, 2007After being involved in one of the most bizarre injuries in the history of football, the midfielder Igor scored his first goal since his return to action. He scored the third goal of Fortaleza in the match his club beat Portuguesa by 3-1 in the first round of série B.
Igor’s injury happened last year when Fortaleza played against São Caetano for the série A of the Brasileirão. In the occasion, Igor and his teammate Bechara both ran to take a free-kick, and the latter ended up hitting and breaking the leg of the former. Watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIySddYu6qk
Igor celebrated a lot, by kicking the flag in the corner and turning a somersault. After the game he said “it was a special to return to the starting line-up and score such an important goal. I wanna to thank everybody who helped me and say I’m happy to pay back all the support the fans gave me.” Watch his goal here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXd-QWMHhDU
By watching the two videos, it is clear who should have taken that free-kick.
