Brazil 2 – 1 Uruguay: Luis Fabiano Returns to the Morumbi and Saves Brazil!

Brazil faced Uruguay tonight for the World Cup Qualifying in São Paulo. The stage was the Morumbi. It was mediocre. The first-half was one of the worst moments of Brazilian football. Uruguay took over the midfield and started creating changes. One after the other. There was a huge space between the defenders and the defensive midfielders. That strip was exploited by the visitors, and with just 7 minutes they opened the score board. Mineiro and Gilberto Silva were terrible. And Júlio César saved Brazil. Ronaldinho, Kaká and Robinho had an unspeakable, not in a good way, performance. And Júlio César saved Brazil. Kaká in his return to the Morumbi, stadium that was the stage of his first steps in football, seemed anxious to deliver a good performance at home.

Luckily, somebody else was in his natural habitat. Luis Fabiano also was back to the Morumbi. Dunga left Love on the bench and chose the ex-São Paulo striker. At the very last minute of the first-half, Luis Fabiano hit a dead ball and scored! One of the most unfair results in history. The second-half started and nothing changed. Uruguay controlled the match. But he did it again! Luis Fabiano. Another dead ball. Another goal. He was at home!

Feeling the pressure and with a clear need to close his midfield, Dunga decided to take out Ronaldinho and send Josué to the match. Another man who was returning to the stadium where he experienced all his glories in football. The sub worked and Kaká had more freedom to attack. Too bad he was not inspired at all. The match ended: 2-1. One of the most unfair results in history of football. Dunga, it’s time to get out.

Other players and the Morumbi

Besides Kaká, Luis Fabiano and Josué three other ex-São Paulo players returned to the Morumbi. Along with Luis Fabiano and Josué, the Uruguayan defender Lugano returned and played well. Uruguay made the power trio disappear.

With Kaká, Mineiro is part of the team of those who returned to the Morumbi and had a mediocre performance. He should be thankful that Josué went to the match and helped him.

The other man is Júlio Baptista. Thank God he did not play.
