Car Accident Kills Palmeiras’ Forward

By: Bruno Romani | July 8th, 2007

The 23 year-old forward Alemão from Palmeiras died in a car accident in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro when returning from his father’s birthday. The car flipped over, killing him and his brother-in-law.

Alemão was recovering from a knee-injury that happened in the derby against Corinthians in the campeonato paulista. He arrived at Palmeiras in February to help a team struggling with its attack, but lucky wasn’t in his side. A month after his arrival, he got injured.

The funeral does not have its time confirmed, but Palmeiras players, such as Edmundo and Marcos, will attend it. The players heard the bad news when arriving in São Paulo after the match against Naútico in Recife. There was crying among some players, and coach Caio Jr. led a pray for the forward.
