Romario: Another Chapter in the Odyssey

By: Bruno Romani | April 11th, 2007

                                Vish, baixinho. Zicou!

Your mom always tells you not to lie. See what happens to Romário. Tonight, Vasco and Botafogo played a thrilling game for the semifinal of Taça Rio, an impressive 4-4 draw. None by the baixinho. The clubs went to the penalty shoot-outs to decide the first runners-up of Taça Rio, and Romário couldn’t even take a penalty because muscle-cramps seizure. The man resembled an old lady. And Galvão Bueno, Brazil’s most famous sports commentator, said shared another of his dumb thoughts: “Romario is eating a banana to fight the cramps. It has calcium. Sorry, potassium.” Right Galvão.

I bet Romario is thinking something like, “Dude, this reminds me when I lost my virginity. I can’t do it with everybody looking at me.” (by www.chorumelos.blogspot.com) Yeah Romário. What’s more is that Botafogo won 4-1 in the shoot-outs, which means that Vasco plays only in May, for the campeonato Brasileiro. Romario is the highlander. His career won’t end at least until next month, and Renato Gaúcho, Vasco’s coach, is likely to get fired. Check out the goals of this game here.

In São Paulo, Palmeiras is officially out

Yup. Palmeiras did what it had to do: won against São Bento (3-0). However, Bragantino, a small club from the town of Braganca Paulista, won its game, and gained the last spot in the semifinals of the Paulista state league. Bragantino, runners up of the 1991 Campeonato Brasileiro and 1990 Paulista champions, will face Santos, while São Paulo takes on São Caetano.
