Brazil 5 - 0 N. Zeeland: Ronaldinho Day!
By: Bruno Romani | August 10th, 2008Bear in mind that New Zeeland is a very innocent squad. Innocent to the point that Brazil kept humiliating them for the final half-hour, and the players did not make any use of violence. The 4-0 came before the hour mark. However, It is needless to say that Brazil hasn’t played like this in a long time. And a great deal of that is due to the fact that Ronaldinho played his best match with the national team in a long time. He dribbled a lot. I didn’t know if I felt sorry or if I laughed at the young players from New Zeeland. With his dribbles, Ronaldinho started the play for the fifth goal, scored by Rafael Sóbis. Ronaldinho was also getting his famous long passes on target. This is how he started the second goal, scored by his new clubmate Pato. And Ronaldinho also scored. Twice. One from a free-kick, to remind us of one of his specialties. The other one from the spot, after a foul committed against him. Yesterday, the number 10 was shinning for the women’s squad. Today, it shone even more. Great to see the evolution of his football in this tournament.
As easy as it is, it’s always very good to beat up a weak team during a short tournament like the Olympics because it offers the chance for improvement. The other Brazilian players also displayed a satisfying performance. Marcelo in the left. Hernanes and Lucas in the midfield. And even Pato and Anderson, whom I criticized a lot in the first match, played very well. This may have been the best match of Anderson with the national team. The first goal started and ended with him, but this was just a piece of the many alternatives he offered in the match. The players who came from the bench, Ilsinho, Thiago Neves and Sóbis were able to keep it up as well. China is next. And now Brazil is Brazil.

After watched the previous and this match, here is my starting line up, Renan. Ilsinho, Alex Silva, Breno, Marcelo. Thiago Neves, Hernanes, Lucas, Ronaldinho. Rafael Sobis, Pato. I think Thiago Neves is much better player than Anderson and Diego. He deserve his place. So do Rafael Sobis and Ilsinho. Dunga should use two strikers up front. Pato always leave his position, he is lack of experience and needs help. Brazil only played well after half time and they scored. But in first time they still made us worry. Hope this win will build up their confidence and start to play Brazil BEAUTIFUL GAME!!!!
