Dentinho Celebrates in Occasion of Easter
The group stage of the Paulista Championship is coming to an end and a lot of thrill is expected. This weekend, all the big 4 clubs won. Except for Palmeiras who easily beat Paulista 2-0, the big clubs got their victories in a mediocre fashion.
Santos, with 4 minutes left, got a goal through Marcinho Guerreiro and beat leader Guaratinguetá 1-0. Santos, who the press considered to be dead, still has chances to move to the semi-final.
Corinthians suffered againt Rio Claro, the last club in the table, but it won 1-0, goal by Dentinho. The club now is in 4th.
São Paulo relied again on Borges to score the lonely against Guarani. Ponte Preta beat Sertãozinho 3-0 and is the third. The table looks like this with 3 rounds left:
Guaratinguetá 31pts
Palmeiras 31pts
Ponte Preta 30pts
Corinthians 29pts
São Paulo 29pts
Barueri 26pts
Santos 26 pts
Rio
Fluminense dominated the derby against Vasco, and beat the rivals 2-1 with another good performance of youngster Thiago Neves (I told you many times he is good), and another poor match of veteran Edmundo.
Botafogo got the victory of the weekend. 7-0 against Macaé. Wellington Paulista scored 4 goals and is the top striker of the championship.
Flamengo beat 2-0 cabofriense.
Rio Grande do Sul
Inter won its group by beating Veranópolis 3-1.

São Paulo were truly dreadful (Guarani even worse!! – though their problem was their attitude and lack of fight). Why did it take Ramalho 74 minutes to bring Borges on?? (and why didn’t he start the match?!!)
Corinthians were crap as well and almost lost against the bottom club.
Neither São Paulo nor Corinthians deserve to be in the semis. Unfortunately, at least one of them will make the playoffs.
