W-WC: Brazil 4 - 0 US

 

They don’t have any support. They don’t have clubs. The big press and the fans don’t care. The only thing they had was hunger. And passion. The women Brazilian national team showed today that it takes much more than nice TV commercials to win an important match. Marta, Cristiane, Daniela, Formiga… There’s so much talent in this team as there is humbleness.

Unlike the men’s team participation in 06, and the U-20 and U-17 campaigns earlier this year, these heroic women put their hearts in the tips of their feet and carried Brazil to a historical victory against the US. The only time Brazil had beaten the main American team was in 97. Ten years later, the world sees the rise of an incredible talent named Marta. She scored twice. The second one was a jewel. A dribble giving her back to the defender, another dribble and the shot. Goal!

But this is not it. This team plays as a team. It has a strategy and it is fit. More than that: it never stops playing. The match was already 4-0 and they all ran , trying to get another one and another one. Winning or not, these girls need applause and support. A lot of it.

We all know that if they win Ricardo Teixeira, president of CBF, will claim his credits. Pardon my French, but this is bullshit.
